Safe building at height starts with good training. Scaffolder is a recognised three-year apprenticeship – and we treat that knowledge as a public good: shared openly, so the trade in Germany stays strong and safe.
The trade
Scaffolder – a recognised apprenticeship.
Scaffolder is a three-year dual apprenticeship in the building trade, taught in the company and at vocational school. The curriculum covers safe erection, modification and dismantling, stability and anchoring, the load classes to EN 12811, health & safety and materials. It concludes with the journeyman's examination – after which the paths to squad leader, foreman and master scaffolder are open.

Why a public good
Safe craftsmanship concerns everyone.
Well-trained scaffolders are the basis for safety on every site – and, given the skills shortage, a gain for Germany as a whole. That is why we share this knowledge openly. Rohrgerüstbau Pronin trained its own apprentices in Hamburg, in a tradition reaching back to 1949. This page passes on part of that experience – as a contribution to the trade, not as advertising.

Frequently asked questions
How long does scaffolding training take?
Training to become a scaffolder usually takes three years and is dual – in the company and at vocational school.
What should you bring to the job?
No particular school-leaving certificate is required. A head for heights, physical fitness, care and team spirit matter most – scaffolding is responsibility at height.
What comes after the journeyman's exam?
There are clear advancement paths: squad leader, certified foreman and master scaffolder – up to design and structural work in engineered scaffolding.
