For three generations the name ROHRGERÜSTBAU stood for scaffolding that begins where standard solutions end – from its Berlin origin in 1949 to ROHRGERÜSTBAU Pronin GmbH in Hamburg. In early 2026 the business was wound down for health reasons of its managing director, Christian Pronin. This page is our farewell – and our thanks to everyone who helped write it.
A trace that remains
From the Reichstag to the high-bay warehouse.
Scaffolding is temporary – the structures it served remain. That was exactly our craft: to make the impossible possible, unseen, and then disappear. What remains are the projects, the people and a name people know.
Company history
A story that began in 1949.
The path led from the Berlin company ROHRGERÜSTBAU Schwarz & Banzhaf (founded 1949), where Christian Pronin learned his craft from the ground up, to his own ROHRGERÜSTBAU Pronin GmbH in Hamburg. A line of skill and fresh starts.
Founded in Berlin
Master roofer Bernhard Schwarz and merchant Wilhelm Banzhaf found ROHRGERÜSTBAU Schwarz & Banzhaf GmbH in Berlin-Wilmersdorf.
At the Reichstag
The scaffolding stands at the Berlin Reichstag – in the close-up the large “R” of ROHRGERÜSTBAU is visible on the structure.
A world first
The company launches the world's first steel-tube frame scaffolds – a milestone for the entire scaffolding trade.
Inventive spirit
Invention of the three-leg steel-tube scaffold system “Stark” – engineering that set standards.
Christian Pronin's path
In 1995 Christian Pronin begins his apprenticeship here (journeyman 1997), trains further worldwide and qualifies as a master scaffolder in 2009.
End of an era
The Berlin company ROHRGERÜSTBAU Schwarz & Banzhaf is dissolved after more than 60 years.
Return & re-founding
After 25 years in scaffolding, Christian Pronin returns: on 1 March 2021 ROHRGERÜSTBAU Pronin GmbH is entered in the commercial register (HRB 166430, Hamburg). That same year: the first apprentices – and a viral video.

Innovation as part of the brand: a utility model registered with the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (ref. 20 2022 001 802.9).
Engineering scaffolding at the highest level
Across Germany, demanding engineering scaffolds take shape – with a signature that was, in this form, unique: rolling towers and shoring plus “art in scaffolding” – including the Urbaneo – Junges Architektur Zentrum (HafenCity Hamburg) and advertising scaffolds for murals and a Netflix campaign (with advertising partners from Frankfurt am Main).
A dignified farewell
For health reasons of its managing director Christian Pronin the business was given up; following an insolvency filing in early 2026, ROHRGERÜSTBAU Pronin GmbH ended as of 1 May 2026. What remains is this page – as a memory, a thank-you and proof that a good brand stays visible.

Special scaffolding inside high-bay warehouses, listed facades, large-scale encapsulations, rolling towers and shoring, stair towers – plus “art in scaffolding”: advertising and museum scaffolds such as the Urbaneo – Junges Architektur Zentrum (HafenCity Hamburg) and advertising scaffolds for murals and a Netflix campaign. Where it got difficult, our work began.
Two brands, one attitude
More than a company – a brand.
Rohrgerüstbau Pronin stood for quality on site. From it grew “Rohrfreunde” – a voice and a community that made the craft visible.
